This weekend is going to bring a mixed bag of weather across southern New Brunswick.
Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for areas like Fredericton, St. Stephen, Saint John, the KV, Sussex and Moncton.
Most of us saw some snow this morning, but meteorologist Roberta McArthur tells us it will switch to rain as the temperature rises this afternoon.
“Our highest amount of rainfall will be overnight,” says McArthur. “Amounts still seem to be around 20 to 30 millimetres, potentially up to 40 in some areas along the coast.”
McArthur says we’ll see a bit of a break tomorrow afternoon before the main system moves in tomorrow evening.
“With that, we should see probably rain again for Saint John and westward,” she says. “The tricky thing will be, it looks like there will be some freezing rain for the Moncton area and just north of Saint John, so into central New Brunswick could get a significant amount of freezing rain.”
Most of New Brunswick, except for the Fundy coast and northern regions, is under a special weather statement for the potential freezing rain.
McArthur says the storm should clear out by Monday morning, although there could be some slippery roads for the morning commute.
