New Brunswick’s Families and Children Minister is thanking those who have opened their hearts and homes to children in provincial care during National Foster Family Week.
Stephen Horsman says foster parents play a critical role in a child’s development but so do their entire families.
“I also want to thank the biological siblings of the parents who share their home, who share their parents, who share their pets… they share everything in helping these young children through life,” he notes.
About 500 children are currently in provincial care and Horsman says that number has been dropping.
If anyone is interested in becoming a foster parent, Horsman urges you to get in touch with the Department of Social Development.
