The Gallant Government boosted the rates paid to foster caregivers this April.
Families and Children Minister Stephen Horsman announced the 10 per cent increase effective April 1st.
He says foster families serve as caregivers and role models, and they show love, compassion and support to children and youth in need of a home and a family.
The release states foster families often incur a number of expenses greater than the amount they are reimbursed, which is why they boosted the rate.
The last rate increase to foster families was five per cent back in 2014.
President of the New Brunswick Foster Families Association Raymond Englehart says the extra funds will ensure foster families can continue supporting and caring for children and youth living with them.
