This is graduation week across our region and students will be celebrating the end of their high school careers.
Mothers Against Drunk Driving has been in schools lately talking to students about being responsible.
Spokesperson Susan MacAskill says MADD is encouraging grads to take part in school-related activities which are supervised and alcohol and drug-free.
“But we do that often after the school sanctioned safe grad that there are prom parties as well or grad parties that parents and students are involved in,” she notes.
MacAskill says anyone who does consume alcohol or drugs is urged not to drive or get a ride with anyone who may be impaired.
She adds make sure to have a plan by arranging for a safe ride home or find a designated driver, take a cab or spend the night.
