St. Stephen is down one police cruiser for the time being after a chase and a crash over lunch.

RCMP say they responded to a report of a stolen vehicle around noontime today.

Upon finding the vehicle, while on route, they attempted to stop the driver near the intersection of Hawthorne and Union Streets. The driver was able to get turned around and instead rammed into the back of a police cruiser.

Police say the driver took off from the scene, but was arrested a short time later.

He is due in Saint John Provincial Court tomorrow (Friday) morning.

Police say there were no injuries, and both vehicles suffered damage. The incident is still under investigation.
