RCMP detachments across New Brunswick are warning the public about scammers pretending to work for the police.
Complaints have been registered with the RCMP about emails purporting to come from the police, saying the recipient owes money for traffic violations.
In a statement, the RCMP say they do not use email to collect fines for any type of offence.
Anyone who gets an email like this should not reply, and should report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
If you have fallen victim to this scam, you should contact the RCMP at 1-888-506-RCMP (7267) or your local police detachment.
