Prince Harry and his bride to be Meghan Markle will draw much attention when they wed in May next year.
But some wonder how Harry’s bride will be identified after they have tied the knot.
Spokesperson for the Maritime Branch of the Monarchist League of Canada Barry Mackenzie says it is an old tradition that when you marry a Royal, you are only a Royal by marriage.
“The more likely thing will be that the Queen, like she did with Prince William will create Prince Harry a Duke of something or rather before the wedding,” says Mackenzie. “As a result, she will become the Duchess, and so popularly they will still be Harry and Meghan, as William and Kate continue to be.”
As to whether Markle will continue with her career as an actress, Mackenzie says we will have to wait and see, adding it is very tricky to balance both the public role as a Royal and a career.
