What the future holds for health care funding and transfers from the federal government to the provinces is uncertain after the agreement providing for an annual 6 per cent increase expires.
The President of the New Brunswick Nurses Union Marilyn Quinn says the big worry is what happens if Ottawa goes through with its plan to cut the annual increase in health transfers to the provinces in half.
Provincial Health Minister Victor Boudreau estimates if the annual increase in healthcare funding from Ottawa is cut in half, New Brunswick would lose 700 million dollars in the next decade.
