The guests at the Marco Polo Cruise Ship terminal saw videos detailing the long history of the businesses all celebrating 150 years.
Perrin Beatty, president of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, was impressed with how the companies survived historic events such as the Halifax explosion and the Great Fire in Saint John.
He says they have had those ups and downs and recovered from terrible catastrophes and yet they built something extrordinary that is well-positioned for the future.
Beatty says the key to success in 2017 is being connected with your workforce, your customers and your suppliers.
