Pets in the Park is a day for families and their pets and it's one of the fastest growing summer events for the Animal Rescue League. We postponed this event in July due to rain,so now WE ARE asking you to put on your walking shoes, gather your friends and family, human and pets alike and join the Animal Rescue League’s 19th Annual Pets in the Park on Sunday September 12, 2010, from noon until 4:00 pm (registration begins at 11:00 am). All funds raised from this, our biggest fund raiser of the year will be used toward the operation of our shelter, veterinary care, special needs of our animals and enhancement of ongoing programs.

On September 17th, 2010 Patrick Sohy is being sent to Exile Island. He will be subjected to harsh conditions and impossible tasks that will challenge his mental, physical, creative and philanthropic abilities. The only hope for his survival is that you help him raise funds for the Children’s Wish Foundation. All fun and games aside, the day is about granting special wishes to children with high risk illnesses. Granting a wish to a child can be a pivotal event in their life. There will be a Blue Grass Camp Out Fundraiser at the Eastern Charlotte Lions Hall beginning at 8pm to 5pm Sunday. Weekend rate is $30/trailer or walk ins $5/day until midnight.

September 19th 

Get out those running shoes!  Register for the Scotiabank AIDS Walk for Life, which is to be held Sunday, September 19th, at Fisher Lakes.  All money raised remains with AIDS Saint John to provide programs and services in south-western New Brunswick.  There is no fee for team registration and all pledge amounts are welcomed. On Day-of the walk registration will start at 11AM at the Fisher Lakes A-Frame, and the walk/run starts at 12.  You can register online at www.aidswalkforlife.ca/SaintJohn.htm, and more information is available by calling Leigh Aube at 652-2437.

This years Terry Fox Run is on Sunday September 19th starting at the Lily Lake Pavilion and continuing through Rockwood Park. Registration begins at 12pm with the run beginning at 1 pm. The Fundy Trail's 11th Annual Cancer Walk will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2010.

All money raised will go to the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation toward the Cancer Treatment Centre in Saint John.

Each participant will receive a complimentary t-shirt for $50 or more in pledges. Registration begins at 10:00 am at Parking Lot #6 on the Fundy Trail. Please join us for fun, food, friendship, and entertainment at the tent after the walk.

An All-You-Can-Eat Spaghetti Dinner fundraiser will be held on October 3, 2010 in support of the Saint John Animal Rescue League. This event is being put on by the Woolley family in memory of Laura Cristine Woolley, a devoted animal lover who passed away in 2007. Tickets are now on sale for the dinner which includes all-you-can-eat spaghetti, garlic bread, tea, coffee and pop. It will be held at the Lansdowne Place Pizza Delight on October 3, 2010 and there are multiple sittings. Tickets are $12 and must be purchased in advance.  This fundraising event includes door prizes, a 50/50 draw, and silent auction. Animal food donations will also be accepted at the door. Vibrant Communities is hosting a second Learn & Go: Working for Change program. It’s an opportunity to make connections, expand networks, and learn skills for advancing ideas that can improve your community. Learn & Go: Working for Change has three phases: Phase one is a series of workshops that foster skills and ideas for improving your community. Phase two allows participants to work on a project of their choice with guidance from a mentor. Phase three is presentation time, where potential partners are gathered to hear participants’ project ideas. Vibrant Communities provides food, transportation, and childcare to Learn & Go participants.
