In the virtual workplace, mentoring should have a higher priority because younger workers can become isolated and, as such, are not exposed to best practices. So says Robyn Tingley, author and founder of the GlassSKY Foundation, who will be emceeing the first ever Inspire Awards tomorrow night at the Delta.
Tingley says it’s in everyone’s best interests that we all play a role in helping the next generation rise up but managers are busier than ever these days with the result that mentoring can be relegated in importance.
James K. Irving will be presented with the Lifetime Champion of Mentoring Award tomorrow night because of his support for Big Brothers Big Sisters and the PALS program.
Tingley has also written a book entitled “Ten Essentials For The Motivated Millennial”. She says number one on the list is having the right can do attitude in the workplace.
