Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning and it appears it could be a brutal one.
A massive Nor Easter is already hitting the US Eastern seaboard and it will be here this afternoon.
Meteorologist Darin Borgel says this system will bring us a significant snowfall with as much as 25 cm before it all ends late Wednesday afternoon.
The major concern besides the snow is winds which could be as strong as 70 to 80 km per hour at times.
That combined with heavy wet snow could cause power outages and very poor road conditions.
Staff from the City’s Transportation and Environment Service are keeping a close eye on the coming storm.
We are told snow removal crews will be out in force keeping the streets as safe as possible.
Several main roads have been treated with an anti-icing solution which is intended to delay the build up of snow on the treated streets.
Drivers should be aware that visibility may be poor at times later tonight and should drive cautiously.
The City of Saint John EMO is also be watching the conditions and prepared to respond if necessary.
