A woman is facing charges after allegedly trying to abduct two children in Saint John.
Police said the incidents took place in the Eglington Court area around 10 a.m. Saturday.
The suspect allegedly tried to take a child who was riding a bicycle in the area.
A family member of the child was then threatened by the suspect, according to police.
Another child in the area was physically grabbed, but a family member intervened and rescued them.
That family member was also threatened by the suspect, who was arrested nearby by police.
A 34-year-old woman has been charged with several offences, including:
- two counts of attempted abduction of a person under 14
- two counts of assault
- two counts of uttering threats
- assaulting a peace officer
- obstructing a peace officer
- possession of a substance believed to be methamphetamine
The accused appeared in court on Tuesday and was remanded into custody for a five-day fitness assessment.
She is scheduled to return to court for a bail hearing on Monday.
No physical injuries were reported, according to police.
