New Brunswick sits around the middle of the pack when it comes to gas taxes.
That is according to a new report out from the Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF).
It finds that just over one-third of the price you pay at the fuel pumps is taxes.
That works out to about 48 cents in federal and provincial taxes per litre of gasoline.
“Both Prime Minister Mark Carney and Premier Susan Holt need to cut their taxes on fuel that are making life more expensive,” Devin Drover, CTF’s Atlantic director, said in a news release.
New Brunswick sits seventh among 13 provinces and cities included in its ranking.
The tax percentage is similar in Nova Scotia but drops to 26 per cent in Prince Edward Island.
Vancouver, Montreal and Quebec have the highest gas tax rates while the Prairie provinces have the lowest.
