Taylor Swift’s much-anticipated 10th studio album, Midnights, dropped at midnight on October 21st and the first single has been released.
A month ago, she started unveiling one song title at a time via a video series “Midnights Mayhem With Me.” With the “Anti-Hero” reveal, she did a feature on Instagram about how this track – even though it’s a deep dive into everything she doesn’t like about herself – is one of her favourite songs ever.

“I don’t think I’ve delved this far into my insecurities in this detail before,” she says. “I struggle a lot with the idea that my life has become unmanageably sized and, not to sound too dark, I struggle with the idea of not feeling like a person.”
Don’t worry – she pretend cries and says to not feel bad for her, in a super self-aware way that let’s us know she’s not too hung up on it.
“We all hate things about ourselves, and it’s all of those aspects of the things we dislike and like about ourselves that we have to come to terms with if we’re going to be this person,” she says. “So I like ‘Anti-Hero’ a lot because I think it’s really honest.”
With such a personal song, it’s not a huge surprise that she’d know exactly how she wanted it to look to. The “Anti-Hero” video is also written and directed by Taylor.
