Two trailers full of tires went up in smoke near Moncton on Sunday morning, according to fire officials.
Fire crews from five departments were called to Route 126 in Lutes Mountain just after 8:30 a.m.
Thick billowing smoke could be seen from several kilometres away, according to social media posts.
Platoon Chief Brad Calhoun with the Moncton Fire Department said the fire was extinguished by around 11 a.m.
However, he said a couple of crews remained on the scene to ensure there was no lingering flames.
Firefighters from St. Paul, Salisbury, Riverview and Dieppe helped to shuttle water to the scene. An excavator was also used to help sift through the tires.
Calhoun said there was no damage to the adjoining shop and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
